Artificial Intelligence (AI) Introduction


Artificial Intelligence

The theory and development of computer systems able to perform

tasks normally requiring human intelligence, such as Visual

perception, Speech recognition, decision making and translation

between languages.


“Artificial Intelligence is a Technology which enables a machine to simulate

 human behavior”

 

The Term artificial intelligence was first coined decades ago in the

 year 1956 by John McCarthy AI the Dartmouth conference, He

 defined artificial intelligence as the science and engineering of

 making intelligence machine.


Artificial Intelligence is a Technique which enable machine to

 mimic human behavior. AI is a technique of getting machine to

 work and behave like humans.


In the recent past AI has been able to accomplish this by creating

machine and robots that are being used in a wide range of field

including: Healthcare, Robotics, Marketing, Business Analytics

and many more.

 

Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning are

 Interconnected fields.

 



Artificial Intelligence:

The science of getting machine to mock the behavior of human.

 

Machine Learning:


A subset of AI that focuses on getting to make conclusion by

 feeding them data.

“Machine learning is the study of computer algorithms that allow

 computer program to automatically improve through

 experience.”

Deep Learning:


Deep learning is a subset of machine learning that use the

concept of neural network to solve complex problems.

“Deep Learning is a particular kind of machine learning that is

inspired by the functionality of our brain cells called Neurons,

which Led to the concept of artificial Neural Network.”

Now, Artificial Intelligence can be structured along three

evolutionary stages:


1)   Artificial Narrow Intelligence

2)   Artificial General Intelligence

3)   Artificial Super Intelligence

 

Artificial Narrow Intelligence

Artificial narrow intelligence which is also known as weak AI. Now currently many existing systems that claim to use artificial intelligence are operating as a weak AI, that focused on a narrowly defined specific problem.

So, now Alexa is a very good example of narrow intelligence, face

 verification in iPhone, Autopilot feature in Tesla cars, google map

and the social Humanoid Sophia which build At Hanson Robotics.

 

Artificial General Intelligence

Artificial general intelligence (AGI) also known as strong AI,

involves machines that passes the ability to perform any

intellectual text that a human being can,

Machine don’t possess human -like abilities we have a strong

processing unit that can perform High-level computations but

they are not yet capable of thinking and reasoning like a Human. 

 

I am sure all of you heard of Stephen Hawking’s now he warned us that

“Strong AI would take off on its own, and re-design itself at an

ever-increasing rate. Human, who are limited by slow biological

evolution, couldn’t complete, and would be superseded.”

 

Artificial Super Intelligence

Artificial super intelligence (ASI) is a term referring to the time

when the capability of computers will surpass human beings.

Artificial super intelligence is presently seen as a Hypothetical

situation as depicted in movies and science fiction books where

machines will take over the world, however tech mastermind like

Elon Musk Believe that artificial super intelligence will take over

the world by the year 2040.

 


Let’s take a look at how AI used in real world


In a finance sector J.P Morgan chase’s contract intelligence

platform uses AI, machine learning and image recognition

software to analyse legal documents and extract important data

point and clauses in a matter of seconds, now manually reviewing

12,000 agreement take over $36,000, but AI was able to do this

in a matter of seconds.     


Healthcare- IBM Watson

Healthcare IBM is one of the pioneers that has developed AI

software specifically for medicine more than 230 healthcare

organizations world wide use IBM Watson Technology.


Google AI Eye Doctor can examine retina scans and identity a

condition called Diabetic retinopathy.

Better Algorithms

Broad Investment

 

Advantages of AI:

Solve Stressful and complex problem

Less error

AI possibilities infinite to function

Fast, speed & Accurate

AI can discover unexplored things i.e., outer space.

 

Dis-advantages of AI:

Lack human touch

Ability to replace human jobs

It can malfunction and do the opposite of what they are programmed to do

Can be misused leading to mass scale destruction.

 


The AI market will grow to a $190 billion industry by 2025 with

global spending on cognitive and AI systems reaching over $57

billion in 2021.

Companies investing in AI:    Google, Apple, Amazon,

 IBM.
